Today my show-and-tell post is Moonshot Nexus! Queue Inception BWOOOOOOOOOOOM sound.
Nexus is the term used to describe the social-entrepreneurship side of Moonshot. It’s the important community, framework and software/automation services (like this bulletin board, our blog, and social media channels) to help level-up the top talent and entrepreneurs innovating as we enrich our world through new commercial innovations and extend it beyond the horizon.
Core to Nexus is the ability to have a voice, to reach different parts of our community and network, and to reach beyond. It’s a feedback loop, too. We want to show people that they too can participate, and they too will be lifted by the rising tide.
I’ve been building this bulletin board to give the most active people within our community a place to share and learn - no matter where you are as long as you have internet acess. We use our blog as a more formal broadcaster, to give rising stars a louder voice to reach beyond the space echo-chamber and out into the mainstream with an engaging and more sophisticated voice.
Now, I’ve started to integrate this bulletin board with a new Twitter handle (@MoonshotNexus) also, with the eventual goal of integrating discussions on here with those on “space Twitter” - we need easy entry points for fueling our feedback loop of community growth, participation, and network value.
So today, if you post a new discussion on here, it will automatically post on @MoonshotNexus. This isn’t good, for a number of reasons - this is not even a beta rated feature yet. I’m working on the ranking feature of this board so that only the top-ranked and trending discussions are shared on @MoonshotNexus. I’m also working on taking the hyperlink field and Tweeting that as the main hyperlink, with the link back to this forum being secondary. Together this will ensure that posts on @MoonshotNexus Twitter are more insightful, engaging and useful.
I want that Twitter feed to be representative of only the posts getting good discussions on here, and only to draw people specifically to the forum (as opposed to the linked webpage of the content) if the person wants to see the discussion here. This is an in-between for those less active on the forum, but more active than readers of our monthly newsletter.
The newsletter is a monthly form of comms. We’re looking to provide a quick 60-second monthly summary of space news and Moonshot news. We now automatically take the top discussions from the month as up-voted by you, and link them in the newsletter, and will be working to further increase the effectiveness of this in 2020.
Other future improvements on the roadmap:
- Better handling of jobs and events posts
- Better presentation of hyperlinks
- More engaging posting to @MoonshotNexus
- Improved up/down-voting algorithm
- More frequent content shared and discussed here while it’s in testing
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
