Keen for some discussion here on reaching out to new connections on social especially LinkedIn.
I’ll start with my number 1 most important tip.
Number one Tip -
Treat LinkedIn like a virtual conference morning tea. you wouldn’t walk up to someone at a conference morning tea, hand them your business card and walk away without saying anything. LinkedIn is no different, it’s a good habit to get in to, when you are connecting with someone always write them a note explaining why you would like to connect. An example might be “Hi Ben, I noticed you’re a Mentor at Moonshoot, I’d like to connect here on LinkedIn and arrange a time to introduce my startup?”… assuming the new connection says yes, you can then go from there.
It doesn’t need to be lengthy… but it is polite and more endearing. And, you will stand out form the myriad of people that send blank connection requests.
Anyone else got any thoughts or tips on effective engagement through LinkedIn or other social platforms. @Troy
