My name is Mark Smith. I’ve been building software products for about 30 years from embedded Telco & gaming to lately web and AI products. My undergrad was Applied Science (Digital Technology) - half hardware, half software, I’ve since done a grad dip in digital communications, and and MBA. so, I have a mix of technical and business skills. My day job for the last 2 years has been Head of Product at PredictiveHire where I work out what should be on the roadmap for the dev teams by developing a product strategy, researching customers and users and working with marketing, commercial and design teams to get great products and outcomes to paying customers. I have managed developers, product managers, business analysts, user experience designers etc. Thats the day job….
I’ve had a long interest in space, and I tried to start a community build of a cubesat in Melbourne called Nanosat Revolution. it was during that period I first met Troy when he was at Melbourne Space Program. I found the learning curve on Cubesats is pretty big and it was hard to keep people in the open source effort. I went deeper in putting together a proposal for a hyperspectral imaging cubesat with onboard FPGA accelerated algorithms. This was well received, but didn’t go ahead. I’ve continued to follow space and the launch of the Australian space agency, and most recently attended COSPAR 2021 and looked at how cubesats have been applied to a range of problems there as well as the amazing range of projects going on in the world.
I’m looking for a role in space. I’m hoping you can all help?
