I’m all for mega constellations, but the size of Starlink has me concerned given all the existing players in the market, and it looks like the race to fill entire orbits has already started causing issues.
I wonder what the cost of the collision manouver is and how much fuel it consumed to do it. Spatial awareness and ML will help automate collision avoidance at an increasingly busy altitude, but only while the satellite still has fuel, which is the most expensive part of a satellite given the extra mass to launch.
Space tugs and on orbit refueling can’t come fast enough!
